Dave's Camelhair Brush Set by Brollonks Dave's Camelhair Brush Set by Brollonks
UPDATE - GET THE NEW PAINTER 12 CAMELHAIRBRUSHES FOR PHOTOSHOP HERE---> [link]

Hi there everybody,

it's time for sharing some (in my opinion) very interesting brushes.
I heard often that this camelhair brush for painter is one of the best drawing-tools, sadly Photoshop does just have the default (hard round) brush and I never found good inking-lineart-brushes for Photoshop.

I spended a lot of time creating my personal camelhair-brushes for Photoshop.
And after trying them out I don't want to use the default hard round brush anymore for drawing (well, for drawing and inking I already have some inkbrushes and pencil-brushes) linearts.
My older inkbrushes, however, does have some texture in it - this time I wanted to do smooth but yet crisp lines and I came out with my very new Camelhairbrush-Set for Photoshop.

Look at my preview image in original size and compare the stroke of the standard hard round brush of Photoshop with the strokes of my camelhair-brushes.

I know it's a matter of taste, but I like how my brushes work very much - so I want to share them with other artists. Maybe someone will find them useful too.

Oh and by the way - I inserted a Camelhair-Blender-Brush in my set as well, it's for the smugde tool. You can do very interesting blending effects with it, but it needs practice.

However, you are allowed to share my brushes on other sites by mentioning my name and linking back to my account. You are also allowed to use them for commercial and personal projects, but please don't claim them as your own creation. You may alter them and trying other settings if you like to do so.

My preview image shows a quick doodle I made with my brushes, and a preview comparing the standard hard round brush-stroke with my camelhair-brush-strokes. The drawing is copyrighted by me, don't trace, colour or alter it in any case or way - but you may (by mentioning my name) upload it when sharing my brushes for preview-purposes.

So, I hope those of you finding them useful will have much fun drawing and sketching with them - download and enjoy. :D

If there is any question you can note me or sending me a comment here, I will try to answer as soon as I can.

Happy drawing and have a nice day,

- David

WOW!!! THese are nice. I just saw these being used. I stopped using photoshop for this reason and when I got a new computer I did not even bother buying it. I kept using the new program I have now. I might now think about getting photoshop again for more than just effects to my already drawn images and photos.

These look really nice! I do have a question though. (I did read your entire right up above btw.) Would I be able to use these for a book that I'm illustrating which will be published? And do I need to worry about crediting you somewhere? (Which I don't mind doing it if my boss is okay with it.)

If you just use the brushes you don't need to give credits, it is solely for the case of sharing the brush set elsewhere.

You can use them for commercial projects as long as you don't include the actual brush set-file (in that case selling them) into whatever you earn money with.

Usuage is fine in terms of creating art, so in your case it is no problem.

Hello,I have a quick question" how do you open a RAR File? With Photoshop cs5?
Reply
:iconbrollonks:
Brollonks Featured By Owner Feb 3, 2013  Professional Digital Artist
It's zipped file. First use 7-Zip or WinRar to extract all the files within that package (RAR file), then use the actual brush-file in the folder. You can find more informations using Google. If you still need help just ask, but I am very busy so it might take longer to answer.

I've been using your brush set for a long while now, but only just remembered where I had found them. I forgot to add this to my favorites when I first downloaded them, and I just wanted to say that I absolutely adore these Camelhair brushes. They've made working with old outdated version of Photoshop a million times easier, and I've been able to give my lines the exxact crisp look I was looking for. Out of all the brushes I've downloaded, this set is by far the one I use the most. Thank you so much!

Okay, but I need more information: Which PS version do you use? How did you try to install them? What do you mean with "it's not working", won't they appear in your brushes-list?

Their just not showing up and I use PS CS5.
I've copied and pasted them in the brush presets folder.

Well I got it to load but it doesn't look quiet like your example. Instead it has rounded ends.

It looks like pen pressure is failing, can't do anything about it. Perhaps try to enable pressure settings for each option, if it's not aleady activated.

With these brushes, will the lineart look fuzzy? I always end up have fuzzy looking lines with Photoshop and when I see friend that use Sai, they look so much cleaner like a real line. Same with my MangaStudio; clean lines but of course I can't use MS with every file.

Take this ones here [link] . Those are my 5th version of these brushes and way better.
Try it out rather than this old version you discovered and tell me if you get fuzzy looking lines.

I think it's just that my particular canvas I'm working on is just so small; when I enlarge it things get crisper. I love the brushes though and I'll use them. C:

Working on a canvas with the biggest size (horizontal or vertical) of 3000px or 4000px at the minimum is a must for digital art (in terms of drawings and paintings). For high rez drawings I use up to 8000px of the canvas. The brush-minimum of those Camelhairbrushes is 15-22px while setting the pressure of my Wacom more to "hard".

Thanks a lot! I search something like that, from the time when i work with Painter... he-he... not that is too far in my past. Just don't like the default brush in Photoshop.
Thanks again!
